What Research Says…

Laying hens on healthy green pasture for more nutritious eggs.

“Meat is not meat is not meat”

(It matters a lot how it was raised)

-Fred Provenza, researcher/professor emeritus at Utah State University and author of “Nourishment” and “The Art and Science of Shepherding”

Broilers (meat chickens) enjoy diverse, nutritious vegetation, resulting in more nutrient-dense meat.

“We’re actually showing radical differences in nutrient density in foods that are produced in soils that are much more biologically rich and with pastures that are much more diverse

-Allen Williams on phytonutrient research being done with Stephan van Vliet

Your Questions, Answered

Is your lamb REALLY grassfed?

Absolutely. 100% grassfed from birth all the way through finishing. No greenwashing here! Our ewes have their lambs on pasture and we manage both the pastures and livestock to ensure healthy, nutritious feed for them and to ensure the highest quality, most delicious meat possible for you!

What does “Regenerative” or “Regeneratively raised” mean?

Regenerative is not a legal term, so it can be used by anyone that wants to apply it to almost any farming practice. TRUE regenerative farming/ranching means the soil, plant and animal communities are always improving. Regenerative ranching requires thinking about the whole and how all the parts of the whole are inter-related and affected by our actions. It is far more than a single practice such as no-till or cover cropping or rotational grazing. Check out our e-book for more in-depth discussion!

What does “pastured poultry” mean? Are there real benefits?

Unfortunately, pastured is not a protected term, so pretty much anyone can claim their layers or broilers are pastured. However, there is a BIG difference in egg and meat quality between birds raised on high quality, diverse pastures and those birds raised on a large mostly dirt lot called a pasture. We welcome you to come see us and see the difference!
