Welcome to Sweetgrass Ranch
If you've spent any time looking for a local producer you can actually trust — someone you can walk onto the property of, ask hard questions, and walk away feeling confident about — then you probably know how rare that is. We're still building, but we're building the real thing, and we want you to be part of it from the beginning.
We found this piece of ground outside Bonners Ferry and knew immediately it was where the work could happen. Beautiful? Absolutely. Ready? Not even close. No house. No barn. No functioning fence (but a whole bunch that had to be pulled out). No irrigation. No water troughs.
That's not a complaint. Kreg can build or fix just about anything, and neither of us are strangers to that kind of work. What we saw wasn't a liability — it was a canvas. Bare pastures with compaction and weeds aren't a problem to us; they're an invitation. We've managed ground like this before, and we've got the before-and-after photos to prove what good management actually does to a piece of land. The soil responds. The plants respond. The animals respond. And then, our food shows the results.
That's what Sweetgrass Ranch is — the intersection of soil, pasture, animal, and your family's table. We raise 100% grassfed lamb and pastured broilers on intentionally managed, organically cared-for pastures, along with laying hens, ducks, and chemical-free honey. Every decision we make on this land is aimed at one thing: building health. In the soil. In the animals. In the food that ends up in your kitchen.
We're not casual about any of it. (If you want to see why that matters, come on a farm tour — we'll show you exactly what thriving pasture looks like and what it means for the meat on your table.)
We'd love for Sweetgrass Ranch to become the source of the food that nourishes your family. Come see it for yourself.
